 AfriCan

AfriCan is one of Unity's longest running projects and the new spin it puts on recycling and craft has seen the project service many clients (corporate, private and those in the fashion industry) for over seven years. AfriCan products are made from the ring pulls taken off tin cans and typify Africa's new design style.

These are collected by Isaac at Joburg's Norwood dump. Before collecting for AfriCan Issac was essentially indigent and unable to earn money. He now earns a regular income from AfriCan, and he and his family collect ring pulls on a permanent basis.

The AfriCan product range of recycled craft is always evolving. Corporate boxes for promotions, proposals and events are obviously always very popular, but recently the project has started decorating restaurants (Nandos @ OT Thambo Airport, Bambanani in Melville) with decor items such as wall panels, curtains and tealights, and has also begun creating fashion items and jewellery, which have featured at events such as Sanlam Fashion week.

If you would like to order AfriCan products or to chat about what's possible, just This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Remember that each product is hand made - we need good lead times for big corporate orders!

The full range of AfriCan products is always available at Unity Gallery and a full catalogue will be available for download on this page very soon. If you'de like to come and visit us click here for our contact page, or look at the map to the gallery
